1967 912 value

I'm in the process of assisting a family member of selling their 1967 912. Been in my storage building for over 20 years. (protected by weather, but not dust!) They would occasionally crank it but that hasn't been done in many years.

I understand they are desirable these days but have no idea how to price it. thinking about ebay auction to get market value. Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Located in n. Alabama.

here are some facts:
43,700 miles
3rd owner with many of the original records and the original manual
5 gauge dash
5 speed transmission
wood rimed steering wheel
no body rust and pans seem to be in relatively good shape
master cylinder is broken from where it mounts and consequently the brakes were not working very well when it was placed in storage.

has recaro seats but the originals are available and will be put back in it for sale. the recaro seats aren't going with it.

radio is not the original.

spare and jack are intact but can't locate jack pad.

glass is original and no cracks.

solex carbs were replaced with webers years ago. I haven't located the solex yet.

they have not been able to locate the KEY!

engine number is 754704.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1514730983.JPG

Ebay no, Bring A Trailer yes.

But you will need MUCH better photos.

John,

I'd recommend that you post this on the 912bbs. If you're not a member, join, and be sure to use your name as most guys there are more than willing to help, but most do want to know who they're talking to. You can visit them here: 912 BBS - Welcome to 912BBS

Good luck with the sale.

thanks for your input. I will pursue these two sites that were suggested. as far as pictures, I fully intend to get better ones once I can move the 20 years of 'stuff' that are inhibiting me getting it out of my storage building were I can clean exterior, and have enough room to open the doors fully. thanks again. john:)

I think if you left it as-is with the dirt you may get more money for it.

And I am not joking. Its the current fad.

Don't clean it up at all. You will be taking away part of it's current "appeal".

john111 01-04-2018 08:38 AM

as usual you guys are right. Leaving the 'dust / dirt' on it would add to the appeal. I'll also take a photo of the barn plus storage building where it has been stored for interested parties. I guess I will need to get new tires so it will roll for someone.

Again, I appreciate the suggestions and hope to pursue those other sites very soon.

I'm surprised it hasn't sold by now just from this posting.

Be informed, don't give it away.

The Porsche world can be slimy!!

I'd air up the tires on it currently and see if they hold air. If so, leave them on the 912. The period correct tires will go with it's current patina. Can have shiny black tires ruining that "just dragged from the barn" look.

List it for sale, definitely plenty of interest (me among others..). More photos would help too!

From the limited pictures, looks like it could be relatively original. If the engine is matching, I would expect the VIN is in the ballpark of 462200 or 355300, give or take, a late MY67 build. It would help your pricing decision if you can determine whether it's numbers matching. Getting the kardex for it will help with that, plus give you some information about the keys.
