How to disconnect pin connector from brain.
How do you release the pined connector from the brain.
I had the trans rebuilt in Feb and I suspect the shop did not get the connection 100% correct - plug-wise. I see a metal tab behind the connection which I suspect has something to do with the release mechanism. Car is a 1976 912E with the stock 1.9L. Yesterday on the 5-hour return trip from Watkins Glen - the car momentarily cut out - happened about 5-6 times. I suspect the fuel cut out, as all the electrics stayed normal. Anyone have a link to a diagnostic/rebuilding service for the ECU? Thanks in advance - Bill K

Found the answer.
To release the harness connector, you must pull the top and bottom of the metal clip retainer towards the rear of the car, while lifting the rearmost part of the connector. The front end of the connector pivots on a retainer bar molded into the computer so the connector must be wiggled rearward to fully disconnect the cable. Does anyone know of a service that rebuilds these ECUs? Bill K note - originally posted on the 914 tech section because the question I was asking is 914 related. Same computer, same connector. (Different program.)
