M caliper rebuild kit problem
Hi,
I bought a complete 72 911 front suspension with M calipers (3 " space, iron). My calipers are this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/calipersplit.jpg I bought to Pelican the rebuild kits but are huge for my caliper pistons: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...repair kit.jpg The caliper kit is: ATE 901 351 964 11 Front calipr rebuild kit, steel M, 911/912 (1965-75), 914-6 What happened here ? I really don´t have idea Please help me Regards |
Hmmm.... Could they be rear 911 brakes? Those have different piston sizes than the fronts. I forget the exact sizes, though!
Ahh, here we go. Mr. Anderson sez: Rears == 38mm dia. pistons. He doesn't say what size the front pistons are, only that the rears ones were smaller than the fronts. --DD |
Eduardo,
I purchased 2 of the front brake caliper rebuild kits from Pelican. When I checked inside the blue boxes, they were different sizes! I sent one back. I now have two the same. I hope I sent the correct one back, they are still in my garage waiting for that particular project to start. Andrew |
Dave:
Thanks for your answer Yes, my pistons are 38 mm Then, Do I have rear m calipers ? But I don´t have any mechanism for parking or emergency brake, then ? Andrew, thanks for your answer, I will investigate this. Regards |
The 911 rear brakes used a separate drum brake mechanism. I suspect you have 911 rear brake calipers there. Not certain, though.
