restoring 914-6

hello
I am restoring a 1970 914-6 and want to do it period correct
is there any book or person that could help me

want to now specif details

wat make type tyres I have Fuchs wheels on it

shock absorbers booge ? color grey ?

etc... all details are welcome

I think Brett Johnson has a book out that covers all 914ís

Get a COA to confirm build type specs.. then go from there.

The book is "The 914 & 914-6 Restorer's Guide to Authenticity". It has a lot of the detail you are asking about.

Getting the CoA, if still possible, is a good idea. That would tell you at least to some extent what equipment the car originally came with--though those are sometimes error prone.

You'll probably have to use period-type tires, as the old ones aren't really available. I'm pretty sure Coker Tire is making Michelin XWX tires in the right sizes.

The two types of shocks that were used were Boge and Bilstein. I don't think Konis were an option for the 914-6, but that is possible. I don't know if the struts followed the color coding that the 911 did; if so the Boges would be black or gray, and the Bilstein would be green.
