Hey! Nice Rack! "Celette"

Q; for John Rogers 944 brake swap
You posted info about doing a 944 caliper swap. You wrote that the 914 wheels don't clear.
Q; Have you done a 5 bolt conversion? Q; Where is the clearance problem? rim or back of the wheel center I'm considering the swap so your imput would be helpful. I'm running 15X8 fuch 5 bolts With 125MM spacers front and rear. |

My question was concerning a post from a while back as the basic type of design in the 944 brake and 914 brake is different. One has dual pistons that move as on the 914 and one has a single moving piston as the 944. While the 944 is bigger, they cause a lot of rotor deflection to clamp the rotor well enough to stop and this would get worse as the pds wear. The interference was another issue that came up and the poster had ground the outer caliper to try and make the wheels fit. I was hoping that we would get an update some day, but we never did??? Keep in mind this is keeping the 4 bolt wheels which is a big cost factor. As an example I bought a set of EMPI wheels and shaved A008Rs for $300 and I use Goodyear Eagle 9x20x15 slicks on 4 bolt Centerline wheels that are MUCH cheaper that the equivalent 5 bolt setup. Many of the 914 owners are very concerned about cost and the BMW brake setup on front seems to be the most cost effective way to beef up the stopping power.
