Update: Wrecked 914

Some of you might remember this : Wrecked 914 Pics . So I thought I would give you all an update. Yesterday I got a stress pull done at the local body shop. I watched the entire process happpen, what an amazing machine! The body shop guy is an old friend of my dad's who is more then willing to help us out. He's talking on the teener as a project that will be done on the side, and it will be something that I do a lot of the work on. So it looks like i'm gona get it fixed and at a resonable cost. It sounds good to me. The next step is to go up to part's obsolete and cut the front out of a yellow teener that Gary set aside for me. It's going to be very intresting to me to see how it all turns out. Hopefully it will all be done by the summer .
Eric

Eric,

Have no fear. I have seen the work on a similiar condition car where the front clip was replaced. Even on close inspection its very difficult to tell. And with the correct racks to align things, you won't have any trouble with drivability when its said and done.

Keep at it.

Go to the 914club.com site. At the top of the page look for a title "914 INFO" There are Chassis dimensons you could print for your body shop guy. He'll be able to get the car alot closer to spec.

Good luck.

so are 914s attracted to the ocean or what... I was at the Oregon coast the other day and saw two of 'em within a few hours; more than I see around Portland in a month!

where at out toward the coast? out by astoria? I'm about an hour north of there so hopefully I'll have another to add to the collection here in a few months and I recently found out a guy in my class's dad has a 914 he had parked in 81 and got running again last week. Those'll be the only two around here that I know of.

I went back a re-read your entire original thread. It seems that you answered your own question before the second page. Good for you. You go man and do what is right for you. I think with dedication (and a few inside friends), you will pull (pun intended) this off. And you will still have your car. Keep us pulled...,er...posted.

Biggy72 - I'm about 150 miles south of astoria. Newport's right on the central coast, bout an hour from I5.

Zeke. lol. Yeah, I really love this thing, I've been riding around in it since I was a little kid, and now it's my turn to drive it and even put some wrench time in on it. I'm pumped to do an engine rebulid

I think a bunch of us inlanders should do a git-together drive out to the coast this summer. There would be numerous rendezvous points to ponder and 101 has great twisties for a casual drive.
Sumpin to think about
