Optima Battery

Went to the Optima Batteries website to find correct part # for the 914. The search said not available for 914. I know alot of you use Optima Batteries. So what's the right part # that will fit & can I use the stock holddown clamp or do i have to fabricate a bracket.
Thanks for any info, Ralph

I have the Optima red top, just the standard one, and it fits just fine in my aftermarket battery tray. I assume it's just a standard size also, it came with the car...

Rog914,

Same here. I was able to use the stock hold-down clamp and bolt. Been working great ever since.

I noticed the Optima Red at Costco. I think it was $99 - $30 cheaper than I paid for mine. The Red top Optima fit my car's stock battery tray but I had to use the black base adaptors that come with the battery. I also had to install a longer than normal ground wire since the old one wasn't long enough. They make an Optima Orange top with poles reversed which should be perfect for the 914 but it's harder to find.
