how to adjust weber IDF 40 accelerator pump(stroke)
Hi Folks
Got done rebuilding a pair of IDF 40's last weekend with new kits and lots of carb cleaner. But I cant find any documentation anywhere that tells how to adjust the stroke on the accelerator pump. Basically, when I took apart the carbs I counted the number of turns till the nut came off the end of the threaded shaft. It took 18 turns. I put it back that way but the jet seems a little weak. Does any one know how to set this correctly?? Also I found that on one carb, one of the idle mixture screw's seat, which is brass, may be cracked, perhaps from overtightening the mixture screw. Is this a specialty job to replace that seat and if not, where would I get that seat from?? Thanks folks for helping me get this '73 2.0 litre running right. Curt |

Replacing internal parts such as the seat is probably a job for the Weber factory folks such as at: http://www.piercemanifolds.com/products.htm
At any rate you can talk to them on the phone and I have found them to be really helpful. The Haynes Manual for Weber carbs covers the adjustment of the float level and also the accelerator pump, if you don't have one you'll need it and most all auto parts stores carry it. Good luck. |
