O ring Location

I am replacing the selector rod seal on my 1973 2.0. #12 on the diagram. I also want to replace the large O ring that surrounds the entire selector mechanism. I am having difficulty identifying where this O ring is located. Is it #20? If so I am not sure where it is to be seated.

That round o-ring #20 fits around a groove at the base of where #10 fits into the transaxle. Look at the picture at #20. Now look just below it, imagine it being lowered onto the housing. If you can’t visualize it I can send you a pic of mine.

I should mention that to properly rebuild that assembly you need to remove pin #16 and /or #19 to properly install all the seals. Message me and I can e-mail you a pic. I’m in the process of rebuilding my 73 trans as well
