Thanks Jess. I am diggin' the color as well. I picked it up in Tucson Arizona and drove it to my place in north Phoenix. Well in excess of 100 miles in the Arizona summer heat and it didn't miss a beat.

It will be my son's daily driver to get to school and back so we will be adjusting valves, giving it a good tune, checking brakes, etc to make sure it is in top shape mechanically.
We will be doing a few things to improve it cosmetically like a new carpet set, fix some loose trim, etc.

It is a good 40 footer. It looks like it was painted by a blind guy from 40 feet with a garden hose. We will strip it down and repaint it at some point in the future.

Replaced the mis-matched GM/who-knows-what belts with green harnesses, added a new carpet kit, fixed a bunch of misc issues, lowered the front, and picked up a personalized plate. Now it is set for my son to drive to school.

Nice new ride. Does the narp tag mean the same in Arizona as Florida. Non Athletic Regular Person?

It means "Not A Real Porsche". Early on, a snub against the VW heritage of the 914, later taken up as a proud motto by a number of 914 folks.

I picked the car up in Tucson but I live about as far north as you can get and still be in Phoenix.

That “ Not a real Porsche” has always fried my behind. There is a video on you-tube about a gathering of 914 collectors and one of the gathering is a woman who raced at Le Mans in 84-85.
She said “ if anyone doubts the handling capability of a 914 she would gladly take them to a race track and demonstrate.

I saw that video and it was awesome.

s Dave mentioned the term was originally used as an insult by 911 snobs but now a lot of us 914 owners use it as a point of pride. It is a term that has also been thrown at the 924/944 family and I wear it proudly for my 944 S2 Cab as well.

I have met a lot of 911 owners who don't know the term or don't agree with it so I don't want to disparage all 911 owners, just the snobby ones.

@brcacti, I will take you up on the visit at some point. The problem is scheduling. I have three teenage boys and their activities take up 99.99999% of my "free" time.

Was that Margie? I saw her speak at Parade in San Diego a number of years back. My wife and I both like her a lot!

forest green, when these cars were new no one seemed to like the color, comparing it to British Racing green of which there were many mgs jags, triumphs, and healeys in that color. NOW that all of those cars are gone, the color has its own unique flavor and people love the color on a 914

Yes. She drove a Porsche RSR at Daytona but owns a hotrod 914-6. Awesome woman.

I believe she started out racing in the 914-6. And wound up doing a lot of work on it herself, because she was trying to do it on a teacher's salary.
