Quickjack use on a 914
I just purchased a Quickjack for my vehicles and tried it first on my 74' 914. Unfortunately, the 4 doughnut jack points do not provide enough surface area for the Quickjack jack blocks to engage, creating a potentially unsafe condition(movement and slippage under the doughnuts. My question- does the 914 have pinch welds that I could use(much safer and easier to use)? Thanks-ROLF

I use a quikjack under my ‘75 914, but have a 2x6 positioned on both sides under the lift points. I was also not comfortable with alignment, but this works very well.
Next time I have it all out, I’ll post some photos. (May be a bit.. running too well!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Just bought a QJ myself. Add me to the list needing info. Can you describe these 2x6's you use? Len :) |
I’ve used my QJ quite a few times on my 914 and never felt the need for additional support. My process is to lift the car until tires just clear the floor then grab the car and shake it to confirm it’s secure before lifting the rest of the way. I’ve found that the rubber blocks compress around the lift donuts and create a secure connection. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580800980.jpg

I used one of the triple bag air jacks on the 914-6 race car when I had it and it is really handy. I made a steel insert that went in the jack opening and with it we could change both wheels on one side in less than 5 minutes. I for get who made mine as I sold it a while back but it was similar to the one Amazon sells at: https://www.amazon.com/Mophorn-Triple-Pneumatic-6600lbs-Lifting/dp/B07WN31QW5/ref=asc_df_B07WN31QW5/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=&hvpos=&hvnetw=o&hvrand=&hv pone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=& hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584345021421860&psc=1

I use a 2x6 on each side that spans from donut to donut. Then the quick jack lifts the 2x6s. I position the jack so the rear lift point is under the rear donut. I also slip some triangular supports front and back just to be extra safe.
