rear hubs

I am in the process of installing standard Boxster brakes on my 914 and have ran into a problem. I am using a 911 rear hub and stub axles. It seems that the bearing surface on the 911 hub is longer than the 914 hub by about 10mm which will not let the everthing tighten up. I though about taken the hub to a machine and have them remove the 10 mm from the hub or I read in where one of our reader had machined a spacer to take up the slack and I would like to know where he put the spacer , on the bearing surface of the hub are on the stub axle . I think the guy was Sir Andy though I could be wrong.

Later 911 hubs need a 5mm spacer. PMS carries them.
