Anyone here do a Lambda CIS 3.0 in a 914?
I make custom wiring harnesses for 6 conversions. I've done one for an early CIS engine, but never one for a 3.0 Lambda CIS engine, so I'm doing research on what it takes to properly put one of these engines, in stock form, in a 914.
Have any of you done this? From all I've read those later 3.0's do not run right without the ECU, which alters the mixture. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this |
I know they run like wet crap when the O2 relay under the passenger's seat stops functioning.

On my 3.0 CIS 82 911 I considered backdating to the 78-79 distributor and the earlier WUR. Some say Lambda enriches at WOT, when in fact only a 2 sec duration. As Dave mentioned about the O2 relay under the seat, when it fails you are screwed. There are many reliability issues with Lambda but if you backdate, you need the corresponding WUR. A friend of mine did transplant a 3.0 Cis in his 914 but for the challenges you’ve mentioned stuck with the 78-79. I haven’t decided yet what I want to do, wether to use the 40mm Webers or keep the Cis and do something with the lambda.
So getting to your question regarding the wiring, you are incorporating the following components, oxs control unit, control unit acc. enrichment, freq valve and the ox’s relay. As well as the related wiring to the o2 sensor, temp switch, throttle switch, micro sw. and temp switch. Yes |
