Thumbs up Battery tray rust finally repaired!

After a year of putting it off, i finally got it done. For a year i drove around with a hole the size of my fist in the side of my car, with my battery jarred into the side of my car with a new battery tray, but i finally got it all cleaned up and welded together.
what do you think of it, it cost me $250 and a day sunny day with out the 914

Glad that you are having fun with your car.

Interested in what exactly was done. Looks like you still have some rusty metal btwn the drain pipe and the trunk.

If your car sees rain, check out the Optima 'dry' type battery.

Do your engine a favor and ditch that sound pad on the firewall. With it sagging like that, it will block the flow of cooling air into the fan... Not good. It's also very good at holding water (often with just a little battery acid!) against the firewall. Also not good.

Noise and heat noise insulation. Oh and it covers up the rust that may have formed on the wall, and the old dried contact glue, and the holes which may have been drilled into the firewall for non-stock accessories.
