Carbs on a 2.0L
I am looking at purchasing a 2.0l for my car. I have dual 40mm delortos that I would like to put on the engine. Will that work fine or should I look at larger carbs. I already have the carbs on my 1.8 so i would get the new intake manifold and go from there if these will be fine. any advice?

I have DRLA 40's on a 2.0 and they work fine. I think the consensus is that Dell 40's or Weber 44's are similar. You might want to look at your existing manifolds some of them are drilled w/ both sets of flange holes ( 3 bolt/4bolt ).

I used Weber 40 IDF's for many years and was generally happy with them. I got good gas mileage, though not as good as FI, and performance with a mildly tuned 2.0L. Most people say Dells work better than Webers so you should do fine. Just get the venturis and jetting dialed in and they will work well.

I have 40 dells on a 2.0. Run great and sound better. Just got the car in November, and took apart the carbs. The Dell book by the CB Performance guys is helpful. Parts are sometimes hard to find. I needed a secondary venturi, and the only place that had it was a shop in Italy. It took me months to find it. Here are the parts places that were helpful:

I have a set of the 40 Dells and I got the kits from a guy in Germany who I found on Ebay. Recently I found a guy in LA that knows them in and out. I also recently bought a set of 44 Weber's to install because I could not get the dells to adjust right. They just kept dumping fuel into the cylinders. He told me that they have a common problem after years of use where they have to drill out two caps on the side and reseal them. He wants $100.00 to do this to both carbs. As for parts, they are hard to find. If anyone needs the name of that shop in LA let me know.

I personally didn't have much fun with carbs or luck for that matter. They don't seem to like the F.I cam. If that was switched out then I'm sure carbs would be great.

My car was described to be by the PO as having a Hi Perf cam for the stock FI, but he went back to carbs after some unknown problems. It idles a bit rough but feels like a bit more than stock HP. And the sound is great.
I did break down and have the linkage and carbs (Weber 40 IDFs) adjusted by a professional - 60 bucks well spent. Only issue I see is that with no throttle and a relatively hard corner the engine can bottom out and stall.
