Question high idle

73,2.0 FI idle is high,1500. My mechanic but in a 911 cold start valve in place of a 914 which was kaput. He also said that maybe I have a worn throttle body which is drawing air. Any thoughts. If I jab the throttle after warm up the idle drops to 1000, which is what I had before. What is the norm for a 914- 700? Greg

The idle should be high when cold due to the AAR valve and then drop off. I have seen some that do not slow down on their own like yours but usually they should drop off. Try the carb cleaner spray around all the hoses trick to see if there are any vac leaks. Good luck.

See if you can get the AAR valve back. They usually just get stuck so you spray PB Blaster in to them and free them up.
Plug the AAR hoses and see what your idle is. If its at 1500 its vacuum leaks or mis timed.
