Does anyone know ?
1. how to get the center defrost vent out of a 1970? and
2. where I might find a good used one.

Thank
Renee

My car is a 70 also and mine is missing so I’m looking for one as well. All I see are 2 sheet metal screws coming up from under the dash. It appears that you have to gain access to remove those screws from under the dash. I’m going to see if I have access tonight, I’ll let you know.

Yes, there are 2 screws that need to be removed. Not sure you can get to them unless you remove the entire dash top that the vent is attached to. Great design, eh?

Correct. I just looked at one today. And by dash top, it's the metal frame, not just the dash pad. It's behind and on top of the wiper assembly and air box so no way to just reach in and under the cowl.

I just pulled one and you have to pull the hole dash to access the screws.

Top of Dash Vent

I have a really nice one that I would be willing to sell. In order to remove and replace you have to loosen the front part of the dash after you take the crash pad off to be able to tilt the front and top of the dash. The heater control as be be loose to allow that part of the dash to tilt. I needed to use a battery powered ratchet with a standard screwdriver tip to unscrew the two screw otherwise it would have taken me 20 minutes or more to unscrew it. It isn't easy so you really have to want to change it. I am changing the color of my car so I had most of the dash loose and the windshield out. I am going to leave it off because I am doing a 6 conversion which didn't have the vent. Let me know if you are interested in the vent. I would sell it for $30 plus shipping.
