Angry OIl plug

Ok, I have basically run out of parts to put back on my car. I have just upgraded to 5 lug fuchs, and 911 front suspention. I just cant wait to get the damn thing on the road, but there is a snag. Some slack jawed yokel put a pipe plug (the kind with the male square fitting on the end) in the oversized hole where the oil drain plug should be. This fitting has been a pain from the begining as it didnt hold oil very well. Well I have now attempted to replace it with a "self tapping" (my a$$) double oversized 1/2 inch. It hasnt worked. I intend to get a tap and maybe go to the next larger standard size.
Has anyone had this issue before, and what did you do to correct it? I cant believe that this little drain plug is holding up the whole show

Why don't you try one of those "Fumoto" engine oil drain valves? You can most likely find one in a larger thread size if you have to tap yours out larger. Then you'll never have to remove the drain plug again or worry about striped threads.
