Don't need to remove the support bar, just remove the bulkhed shift coupler and you wil have enough room

Simply used a 4x4 and 2x4 to suppor the engine and removed the support bar hardware. I will use a small flow jack to install

I would rate this far less difficult that say a valve adjust...DIY Cheers
Scott...
PS. got a new camera as a B-day gift...future post will have more pics...PICS=1000words

yeah, remember this post because when you jack up the car with a floor jack on the engine and the jack plate is too far forward, you stretch the rubber in the mount and if you stretch it too much it breaks. that's how i did mine. live and learn.

Yes, Saturday, another rainy day perhaps...prepare for "british overload"

I will drive the 914 if I get the mounts in time...

otherwise look for the beetle or a red Vanagon in the show lot...I will bring the sheet metal...

cheers.

Yeah, one of mine was hosed like the two of yours; fairly painless to swap out.

I would also highly recommend the rear tranny "sport" mounts. It took the rest of the slop out of my entirely rebushed shift linkage, making for a MAJOR improvement.
