Sheet Metal Mod for Oil Fed Tensioners
Howdy,
I am upgrading the 2.0l engine in my original 914-6 with oil-fed chain tensioners which means an oil line outside the driver-side chain cover. This oil line must pass through the front engine tin. I'd prefer the most non-destructive and elegant way of modifying the tin as possible. Any suggestions that worked and looked well for you? Thanks! |

I’ve replaced a few failed oil fed tensioners recently. I don’t really consider it an upgrade especially on an original 914-6 don’t cut the engine tin!
Rebuild yours or install rebuilt 930 tensioners with the upgraded chain support arms. This keeps your car looking original and will be peace of mind for quite a while. Also. If your 2.0 has the original oil pump oil fed tensioners may not the best idea. They are basically a calibrated oil leak which slightly compromises pressure going to the rest of the engine. Just my opinion - I respect the new tensioners but don’t think every engine has to have them.
