More stuff cut open...
This weekend's 914 effort was new rubber brake lines and brake pads...The first couple of pictures shows the intial reason for the effort. One rear line, slightly swollen. The inner hose has failed allowing brake fluid to seep into the last outer rubber layer.
I actually felt it go...one hard stop and the peddle became spongee... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa... lines 009.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa... lines 008.jpg After replacing the lines and pads my curiousity got the best of me....This picture should have everyone considering the condition of thier lines. the left line is a newer line and was not in bad shape...The older line, an ATE original line I suspect, has seen better days. Cracked, Dissovling and practically choked down to nothing.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa... lines 001.jpg Brakes are the most important part of the car...Makes you wonder why it is always the last chapter in so many repair manuals... Happy Memorial Day.... Scott |
Reminds me that I should go see my doctor for a yearly check up....
