Steel Wheel Lugs
Are the steel wheel lugs available from auto parts stores, or do they have to be ordered?

Do you need lug bolts or studs? I think it was the STF Type 4rum where someone recommended Sway-Away who make torsion and sway bars for VWs. They have studs in various sizes.

The steel wheels have (I believe 25mm length) studs that don't have to be as long as the ones for the alloys. If you are lucky enough to be in an area with VW shops, you can use lug nuts and may be able to get them for just a couple of bucks apiece. The mid 70s super beetles used steel wheels that look similar to the later model steel wheels. They really aren't too hard to find (heck, I haven't tried, but I bet they would be easy to find on-line too.) Cheaper than something out of a "Porsche" catalog, I guarantee. FYI you are looking for 14mm diameter lug nuts.
