Weber tech question
 

I have bought a pair of weber 44idf carbs for a big bore 2.4L type 4 914 4 cylinder. I am now in the process of figuring out what venturis, main jets and air corrector jets I should run. The engine is not a revver (more a torque-monster) so I'm looking for peak power around 5500rpm but with lots of grunt low and mid-range. I think that a 36mm venturi with 144 mains and 180 air corrector jets should work for me but I'd be interested in some input from serious weber experts!

Any thoughts?

You can try to set up a carb before you install it, but you really cannot do it correctly without putting it thru a few runs. It sounds like you have a good baseline. I would run a 38 vent at a minumum. I run 36 vents on my 2056 with 40 IDF's. It all depends on how well you tune them in and how it runs once you tune it. Get the CB Weber book. I start with a fat carb and ween it down until it is snappy, it is an art form. Sometime you get it right and sometimes you don't. Bolt them on and let her rip, then tune it down! It's late and I've had to many margaritas
