Number codes?
 

Hmm after reading a few posts, i was wondering how i would find out certain things about my car. Like what month it was made, or what its original color is, or what engine its suppose to have, or whether it was the first or last make of that year, 1974. Is there a site i can go to or anything liek that?

Look on your vin sticker in the driver's door jamb.

The black sticker has the VIN number and the month and year it was made.

on the driver's door jamb where the door hinges are, there is a body plate from the Karman factory with the chasis number (different than the VIN number, and the paint code).

Judging from the pics I have seen the color is Olympic Blue.

Close, but not necessarily reliable...

The safety compliance sticker on the rear door jamb has the VIN and a date. The date is the month/year the car was certified as meeting safety compliance requirements. 'copmpleted' cars can sit around for a few days/weeks before they were inspected and labelled.

The front door jamb plate chassis number (which should match the one in the right rear trunk floor), decodes to indicate the date the chassis BEGAN production. Conception date.

The only way to determine the completion date (birthdate) is from the Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA...if its shown at all. Gestation was three days on one of my 914s, completed assembly in February 24th, 1974.......the safety complaince date was the next month...March 1974. Close but may not be exact.
