brake upgrade

Doing a brake upgrade with BMW front calipers, among other things. Currently running the stock 17 mm master. What would be the pros and cons between the 19mm and 23 mm master upgrade. This is a stock ,street driven rig with some spirited driving thrown in. Nothing fancy. Maybe some autocross later. Thanks in advance. Robin

The 19mm is the preferred upgrade while the 23mm would be racing only or for massively enlarged caliper pistons. The larger master moves more fluid but at the cost of much more effort and less feel.

19mm master with BMW calipers is perfectly fine for the street. I even use that combo in my historics race car.

You don't need larger until you start thinking about 911 struts and a lot more wheel and brakes. And even then it's farther down the upgrade road.

I upgraded my 70 914 to BMW calipers and the difference was a major improvement with the original stock mc and that was 12 years ago on 914 (#4 of 5 that I have owned). On my 5 th 914 I purchased the larger mc with again BMW calipers but removed the rear proportioning valve and my braking improved considerably more.
