rear brake question

Just want to make sure of assembly. On the rear brakes does the narrow piece of the baking plate get sandwiched between the calpier and the mounting tabs on the trailing arm?

Seems this is how it goes back together but also seems like it would be better to not have another piece between the calpier and the surface it mounts to.

thats a good question.... because last time i replaced a rear caliper, i did not have a tin slip... and the caliper is very uneven.. (rebuilt caliper and new rotor).
