Emergency flasher problem

Hi, guys.

Having a problem with my emergency flashers. When I start the engine, both flashing green light emergency indicators at the top of the tach/speedo stay on constantly. Wont' shut off. None of the exterior emergency lights are malfunctioning/staying on, in other words, they function as they should. The emergency brake has been released. The relay is new. Of course, the emergency switch is off. All turn signals and lights operate properly. I did notice with the emergency switch on, the speed of the flashing decreases; turn the switch off, and the speed increases again.

If you have any insight, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your advice.

try first replacing the turn signal relay with the correct four spade unit.

It is a four spade new just a few months ago. I suppose the new one could be bad..

Whoa, where is Dave? His answer to this sort of thing is......check the grounds, ALL of them!

So, are you saying that the indicators in the tach flash all the time, or they are constantly on and don't flash unless you put the hazard lights on or the turn signals on?

If the lights are just stuck on all the time, then the relay is suspect.

If they flash all the time, then something is probably providing a ground to the relay when it shouldn't. And that's when it gets tricky. Could be a wire shorting to ground, could be the wrong bulb in a socket, could be something else...

Did you do anything to the car shortly before this problem showed up? That's usually the first question I ask myself, because more often than not it turns out that I have caused the problem inadvertently.

The indicator lights flash all the time, whether or not the hazard lights and/or turn signals are on. With the hazard lights and/or turn signals on, the speed of the flashing decreases by about one third.

so I know you said you have a new flasher relay but try another then try a hazard switch

Geez Dave, you have NEVER caused your own problems.......Glad to see you are doing well.
