Installing the MSD ignition in my carburated 2.0
 

Hello,

I just received my MSD kit (6A module, blaster 2 coil and tach adapter).

I would like to know the place you installed the electronic module. Engine compartment ? Rear Trunk ? Behind passenger seat ? An other place ?

Any comments (and pics) are welcome !

I believe most people mount it to the back fire wall, as close to the dizy as possible to keep the wires short as possible

Keep the wires short is good, also heed the high voltage warnings and do not wrap the wires tightly together or you can get bleed through. Good luck

I put a Jacobs I.C.E. Pak on the firewall next to the battery. The electronic ignition is a great addition.

with the jacobs carry the correct style fuse in the glove box or it will turn into the most exspensive part you absolutely need.

The fuse is directly between the unit and the battery,in a holder of it's own all in the engine compartment. It's a standard fuse, not expensive. Very easy to install the ignition. Took about 35 minutes. Engine sure purrs when it is installed.

it's not the ceramic like the standard 914, but if it blows and the spare is elsewhere you the wsp will tell you to push it or tow it. what's your general location?

Vancouver. The Jacobs I.C.E. Pak can easily disconnect and run off the regular coil if there is no spare fuse available. So no tow necessary. Just reroute the wire to the original coil wire to the distributor. That's a good backup with the Jacobs. The original coil is passive and can be reengaged if problems occur with the new ignition system.

How is the car running now with the new ignition?
