Miss/stumbling problem

I am becoming frustrated trying to diagnose an annoying miss/stumble on my 76 2.0. I have been gradually ruling out the usual suspects (ignition, trigger points, plugs, new intake system gaskets & seals, new throttle switch) but to no avail. My local 914 mechanic (no not me, the real one) suggested that I may have a worn distributor because the dwell seems to jump around. Could a worn dizzy be causing the problem of stumbling and somewhat sluggish acceleration?

Is the "stumble" at a lower rpm? Does it go away when under power? If so check for vacuum leaks.
