Jack receiver plate
Hi all,
I started attacking some of the rust demons yesterday. The only bad area is the driver side jack mount. It was completely rusted out. However, the rest of the rocker panel was untouched by rust. I bought the reciever plate and the tube but I think I'm missing a piece. Three questions: 1. What does one generally use for the plate that goes between the receiver plate and the rocker panel? Is it for sale from Pelican and I'm just not realizing it? 2. How do you go about cleaning up the metal that is on top of the rock panel? I.e. up inside the rear quarter panel. I'm having a pretty difficult time cutting off the rusted ends with my chisel and hammer. Is there a better method or should I just suck it up? 3. In my hunt to kill the rust demons I am thinking about putting POR-15 on nearly every part in the car. Are there parts that I'm going to regret painting with POR-15? Example, I am getting rust bubbles on some body panels, does it make sense to scrape off the rust and POR-15 that area until I can get the whole car painted? Does doing this somehow cause problems for me down the road when I want to properly paint the car? Thanks! I am not too sure I would have taken on this project without this board.
