backfire
Ive got a 73 2.0 and have backfiring. It happens on decceleration at 3000 or above. I replaced the ponts with ignitor and set the timming, new plugs, distributor & rotor, none solve the problem. One suspect is on the bakelite sparkplug piece there is a small chip, other than that I do not know. Any ideas?

Probably a small exhaust leak. Good luck

Ill second the exhuast leak.
My carbed 1.8 was doing the same thing, turned out the exhaust bolts from the heat xchangers were backing loose. Tightened them up and finished it off with some locktite(does this stuff melt) and no problems since |
