looking for a dyno in san diego
I want to do some simple dyno runs with A/F meter in the San Diego area. Anyone know of a dyno shop and how much I can expect to pay?
I am guessing this is the most straightforward way to check my A/F ratio vs. RPM at part/full load.

I don't know if you'd need a dyno shop although there is one in El Cajon that my shop uses and one in Oceanside too. Which ever is closer for you but it sounds like you need several hours with an a/f meter and some tweeking to get things right. Good luck.

Mech Tech in Escondido can probably do what you need as well...

If you do go and check, your part load mix should be about 13.7 to 1. Don't let a dyno get set it to 14.7 to 1 which is for modern water cooled cars.
Read Brad Anders site pages as you can adjust the MPS to be spot on. Geoff

Do I need an LCR meter to adjust the stop screw accurately? Otherwise how do I know the armature is resting on the screw and not stressing the diaphram?
Also how much should I expect to pay for an hour of dyno time with the A/F meter?

You need a inductance meter like the Wavetek to measure the position of the "stop" screw as it sets the WOT mix. If you measure it carefully before disassembly you will get it close again. If you do adjust the MPS when at the dyno shop adjust only the inner screw not the outer screw to adjust the A/F at partload. Hold the posision of the outer screw with a screwdriver while adjusting the inner screw.
I still think something is messy with the mix but what Geoff

Kenny's about right as to the cost of dyno time. I think that is what I payed when they did my race car and in addition the tech from the shop went too so that can be a added cost. You will need to make sure that the dyno guys can adjust a 914 FI system since those that can work on them well are getting rare? Good luck.

I can't buy time in half hour increments? =-]
I'd like to baseline things first before I make any changes. I have no idea what I'll find...
