chipped venturi

ok.. quick question... I just received a new Weber 44IDF and one of the venturis is chipped at the top - will this significantly impact performace of the carb?

If the chip is small and right at the edge, it shouldn't hurt the air flow since the turbulence it would cause will be smoothed out by the time the air gets to the small section. If it is big I would send it back or try to get a replacement venturi.
