Dash Lighting Fused?
Hi all. My first post on this forum. My brother has a 1975 914, and I'm planning to get him the CarMagic LED light kit for his instruments.
Do 914s have the same issue as 911s, where the instrument lighting is not fused? Thanks! Mark

Great, thanks! I'll add the inline fuse kit.

When I built 914 harnesses I changed the wiring on the headlight switch. The Rheostat is fed from a terminal on the switch, so I routed that from the terminal to a fuse and back. It is amazing how the instrument light wires from the rheostat to the instruments can damage so much of the harness when there is a short!

I'm trying to convince him to fuse though. He said he has left the gauges alone because he's worried the wiring is fragile. Which sounds like a good reason to fuse. Mark
