Funny sound please help "somebody"

I have a 914/6 with the original 2.0-6
I have installed new rings, resat valves, rechecked the cam timing and more.
my engine runs great but when I gas it quickly or I take it around the block and i put load on the I here a clunking noise coming from it. sounds like the timing chains but not sure.Again it runs fine sounds good, the only time it does this is if i gas it fast. The tensioners are mechanical not hydrolic. Could it be the distributer?

If it only does it during cornering I'd look elsewhere. It seems unlikly that and engine would make an internal clunking noise only during cornering under load. Load is load to rotating parts. Try checking the motor mount. Same general location. Also check the trailing arms and CV jionts. Sound and viberation travels.
Good Luck

Too bad this isn't like cartalk and we could make you duplicate the sound for us

Another possibility would be a slipping clutch. Does it clunk a few seconds after you gas it? Like gas - slight slip - "clunk" when it grabs?

I'd also second the CV joints.

NO ITS NOT THE CLUTCH WHEN YOUR IN NEUTRAL
AND OUT OF THE CAR AND YOU EXCELL. WITH YOUR HAND IF YOU GAS UP FAST IT WILL MAKE THIS NOISE BUT IF YOU DO SLOW TO MODERATE ITS QUIET. "?"

Check the throttle shafts on the carbs. My 911s makes a similar noise, almost like something is loose in the valve train. We went through the motor expecting the worst and were happy to find that the motor is in exquisit condition, it just needs the carbs re-done.
Good Luck

This sounds like a lean carb. pop.
Pull the air cleaner and repeat the exercise.
If it is popping back thru the carbs, you'll know it!
