valve adjustment
I'm trying to adjust my valves. I've never done this before, but I refuse to pay to have it done or it defeats the point of a 914. Anyway, my problem exists because I replaced the flywheel when replacing the clutch and may or may not have put it back in the same place it came out, thus I cannot trust the marking for the TDC. When I check TDC in the fan housing / rotor and compare it with the flywheel they are not matching. So, I'm not sure how to know where I am in adjusting the valves. I can make a mark for TDC, but the 180 degree mark is what is throwing me. Is there any way to exactly tell when a valve is open or closed? And is it open or closed that I adjust them?
Thanks in advance!! Nate 914 2.0 Silver Ghost (A ghost because the paintjob at this point is so faint) |

use the timing marks on the fan and the distributor rotor pointing to the mark on the dizzy housing
