Hey guys, 3 weeks left and i.....
and i have to have the car moving so i can drive it back to florida. Pretty much scrapping all the "fancy" things to do and am moving to the things only needed to drive! Now i have the floor pans grounded out(wanna see?) but the metal strip with the welds are still there(because i pretty much cut the pans out). Now can anyone give me some pointers to help speed the process up and make it less boring?

I'd recommend using a "spot weld cutter" and you carefully use it to cut the first layer of metal. It leaves the spot weld there to be ground off but you can peel the unwanted metal away. Grind the spots off and prepare the surface to weld the new pan on. Drill small holes (1/4") every 4-6 inches to match the spot welds and then weld thru the holes to attach the pan.
Cut all of the rusty crap out and prepare the areas so when you weld in the new metal you are done other than some touch up grinding and POR 15 the pans. I hope you saved the seat rails and mounts! Geoff

Seems like it's much easier since you trained the monkey to do the grinding..
-HONK!- ![]() Head up man, it's worth the work. M
