Cam Plug sealant: what works best???

Any suggestions on what is the best sealant to use when installing the cam plug?

I have some Loctite 574 for the case halves but the books are vague when talking about installing the cam plug. Manual says to use a "non-setting jointing compund".

???

Ryan,
I always use Permatex aviation sealer on the case halves and the cam plug. Seems to work on all VW engines.

Hope that helps,
neil
