There is no replacement part available for the diaphragm. Ray Greenwood on shoptalkforums.com has claimed he's making them, but none have ever materialized.

Your best bet is to buy a rebuilt MPS from a place like Performance, I think they're about $250. New MPS's are approaching $1K in price. Buying old MPS's off of Ebay usually results in you getting an MPS that's as bad or worse than the one you have.

I just spoke with Jay at partwerks. He said he has rebuilds for like $130 with a $50 dollar core fee. New one's, man i cant so how any1 would shell out 1k for a part like that.

I think that the prices for new MPSs have just about reached the breakeven point with aftermarket FI systems, but they still remain a valid option incpite of their high price.

For a $1000 (are they really that much?) one could buy a NEW MPS and the car could perform another 25 years or so with the stock FI system. Not so bad really, if you amortize the MPS over 25 years. Plug N Play, no worries.

Optionally you could choose to go with one of the aftermarket FI systems...MS, SDS, Autronic...these all seem like reasonable systems, but they are still largely 'experimental' and you will need to do much tinkering and dyno time to make it specific to your engine. There are no bolt-on, turnkey systems yet. Not cheap or fast if you consider your time is worth anything. Longevity is largely unproven (Will you still have that old 3.0ghz laptop to remap your ECU in 5 years when it dies?) This could be an expensive and time consuming option.

Carbs. Not an option for cars needing smogability (75 and later cars in CA or restoration purists who demand stock OEM.

Course most of us didnt get our 914s for Sunday cruises...

Tod...the 1.8L cars did not have MPSs...they were L-Jet FI which has an air flow meter instead. The 1.7L cars are D-Jet and have MPSs though.

The diaphragms are not available anywhere at the moment and never were available separately. They came from the MPS factory in a sealed MPS, because the MPS requires calibration which requires special intruments and knowledge...not normally available to anyone but the factory.

All the rebuilt MPS come from Bret instruments in LA, they only sell to vendors not to the public.

The rebuilds seem to have a 50-50 hit and miss on how well they work (or not). If it was the only option available they would be worth the shot even if you buy 2 or three to end up with one good one.

This BBS sponsor has new ones listed for $725.

If I had the 725 to buy 1 new, i would. But thanks to some Ahole rear ending me last year and messing up my neck and balance center, money's been alittle tight. Probally more info than u needed but thats why. Hence my quest for rebuilds.
