Newbie stuff...longish.

I am the proud owner of a 74 2.0. The car was owned by my friends parents and since 1976, when I was six, I have often been a passenger. Frequently in the 80s my friend and I would liberate this car from the safety of the garage and terrorize our town. And after his parents became hip to our latenight covert operations they locked away the key. Not to worry we had made a spare, which I still have. I love the fact there is a melted spot on the center console. Its from a droplight that was set there while we installed a tapedeck in the spring of 1986. The tapedeck does bother me though and the wireing job we did just plain scares me (come to think of it I need to fix that before I burst into flames). I remember the day we installed it, it was a great day, my best friend, beer, a Posche, a box full of 80's music.... good times...good times. Anyway, I think its pretty great to have something like my 914. I can think of fantastic times I had in that car. Now its in my garage smelling like new paint, back in its silver of yesteryear, with bumpers, rockers, and almost everything you can take off waiting for painting and reassembly. Come Monday she will continue to be my daily project... I mean driver.

Awesome, fun read, and best of luck!

It was icy all over, and 3am. I pulled off every exit ramp I passed on my way home, just so I could go down the entry ramps, Judas Priest was playing low, and everytime I dumped the clutch we'd scream "WOOHOO!!!".. top was OFF.. got her up to around 120 and my face cracked.

My first 6 hour 130 mile trip.

Did Satantic versus come out of the speakers if you put it in reverse?

I'd rather not talk about it.

How funny and great posthttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif
Reminds me of when we did that in high school with my Moms 66 VW. Gravel drive way... had to push it ever so quietly out to the street & down a block before we started it. Drove around the back roads smokin cigaretts (no Cap'n kangaroo! ). The finale was in the graveyard with a stolen case of Bud. It ended with us all in a mass performance of projectile pukin' on the head stones and then tryin' to push the VW back into the yard w/o gettin caught... but we did due to our forgetting to turn the engine off:rolleyes:
Gawd that was fun!
