Trans install
Got the new trans in, the bottom nuts are snug--but the bolt I *thought* I pulled from the top side of the tranny that connects to the engine pops in but doesn't catch, it's not long enough...
I must have misplaced the right bolt, maybe I'm using the starter bolt instead of the trans bolt?
Here's my real question--the clutch cable is on, and the clutch throw seems the same as with the old trans, and I didn't have to shim the pinoin bearing? inside the trans (read that somewhere, if the clutch doesn't have enough throw... or... something). I get into the cockpit, and test the shifting between gears. 1st, 3rd, 5th feel real good, feels solid when entering all these gears. But, reverse, 2nd and 4th don't feel solid--they are more *squishy*.
Also, before when shifting to 1st or reverse, the shifter had to be pushed over to the left side--through springy resistance. Now I don't have to do this, it seems as though the gearbox has "lost width", and that springy resistance to get over to those far left gears disappeared...
Any idea why the change?
