engine rebuild

is there anyone out there that can recommend someone to rebuild my 1.8. i live in West Virginia. somewhere close.

Depends on where you live in WV but there are several Porsche shops in Northern Virginia. Ray Plewacki is very familiar with 4 cylinder 914 engines and runs a shop called Autosport Systems Group. However, if you don't mind shipping the engine then Jake Raby is your man.

Raby's not the guy to go for if you want a stock engine. I don't think he can leave anything alone...

If you want a 120 HP 2056cc motor, or a 150+ HP 2270cc, he's the guy. But I'm not sure he even remembers how to build a 76 HP 1.8 liter.

For the price, make the engine into a 2056.....More power, temps run the same,better fuel economy, and the price is the same from me..

I have not built a stock 17-1800 since 96.....not enough return on the investment unles you have a concourse vehicle.

Rick @ Conemac 818-340-5855 he has done 365,911 and t-4 motors for myself and I have gotten very good feed back from the guys I have sent to him for rebuilding. Steve

ray is at autosportsystems group in merrifield VA. that's near tysons corner, fairfax, vienna and about 15 miles west of DC. he is the model expert for 914s for the local pca club, potomac chapter and also races a 914.
