Turns out it was the Fan impeller, doesn't spin now after welding
The problem with my friends 914 turned out to be the Fan impeller and not the fuel pump. He took it to a local shop and they managed to balance and weld it so it spins properly and what not. However, now that it is back in the car, it doesn't turn from electricity, but you can still do it manually. Is it possible that it blew a fuse, or that it's just dead now? My buddy says he tried all the different ways to plug it in, could he have shorted something?
That's all I know for right now, anyone got an idea? Thanks a lot. |

Are you talking about the heater fan booster? Check the fuses in the relay box in the engine compartment. You also have to pull the heater lever up so it turns on.

I'd imagine that if they welded the moving part (shaft) and grounded the welder to the body of the fan, they may have blasted the motor windings. I think if you measure a high resistance across the connector terminals there's a problem.
