5 Lug Rear conversion question
If I install the drilled 5 lug hubs, can I just buy the 914/6 rear brake rotors and install them on it? Or do I have to drill the rotors also?
|
that is what I was told to do when I was looking into it. You have to have a little bit on the inside of the caliper removed though, they are little bigger that the 4 lug disc.
|
The reason I ask, there is a guy on Ebay selling a set of new rear 914/6 rotors for $200.00 starting bid. Pelican sells them for 65.00 each. I can just get a set of those and be done with it.
|
Just buy the Pelican ones. You don't have to do much if anything to install them. They go right onto the drilled hubs. Some find it necessary to trim off a tad of the overall diameter in a brake lathe because of what Mike said. You could probably do it with a belt sander right on the car.

I used drilled out rotors.

Probably cheaper to use 914-6 ones. Unless you have the right drill bits for your drill press, and don't count your time as worth anything...

Scott, its a pain in the ass....just give me those big FUCH's and i'll make sure they get a good home.....trust me....

Hawdy, folks
I bought 914-6 rotors from the guys who drilled my hubs - they fit poifectly. Just bolt on and go, I didn't have to do anything to the calipers. Buy them at Pelican, the prices are very competitve. Cheers, Jeff |
Yeah Scott, I'm with Joe - but I think you'd rather see them on my car.
|
They wont fit on either of your cars. With 245X50's on them I assure you, they will rub. And Joe, I know that you have a complete set of 16's already.
