My car like to do the high speed shimmy

Sounds kinda like a dance but it's quite annoying. At about 65 mph the car shakes and rattles. I've been told that it is the ball joints but I'd like everyones opinion on what should be checked or replaced first to minimize down time. I had the wheels balanced thinking it was that but it wasn't. Thank you for your help.

Could be a lot of things, Jim. Best bet is to take it an alignment shop and get a free estimate...In my experience, front end shimmy has been found to be...

1) Loose tie rods
2) "A" arm busting through the pan
3) Ball joints
4) Balance weights falling off the wheel
5) Bad/loose wheel bearing
6) Flat spot on tire from too hard braking
7) Loose lug nuts
8) Loose nut behind wheel....8^)

Good Luck

Everything mike said and a stuck caliper! No kidding. As the rotor heats up it starts to warp. the faster you go the hotter it gets. Just a thought.
