Breakin' in (Lean condition)

Help.

How many clicks off of black smoke is your A/F, approx?

I need a hot and dirty way to make sure I don't burn up my 2.0s ex valves before I get 100 miles on it..

I need to make it richer, without choking the pig, I don't like the sound of pinging.

=o0

It also sounds over-advanced, my neighbors are GOING to hate me..

(worse)

Wouldn't increasing the fuel pressure do the trick? Or are you running carbs?

Do you think 100 miles is far enough inland to get away from Isabel?

When I hear someone talking about "clicks off black smoke", it makes me wonder - are you talking about clicks on the mixture knob on the ECU in a D-Jet system? If so, then be aware that the knob only affects mixture at idle and during overrun - it has NO EFFECT on the part-load or full-load mixture.

If you're concerned that you are running lean under part-load, spend the bucks and pay for an hour on a chassis dyno so that you can see what your mixture is under load. If it needs to be richer (or leaner), then you can play a bit with the fuel pressure, or if absolutely necessary, adjustment of the manifold pressure sensor. See my web page for some instructions on how to do these adjustments.

And if you've got carbs, ignore what I've written....

It's just all the stuff that can happen in the first running, the valves got super tight sooner than you'd expect after the cam run.

I'll get back to you Wednesday after I get it out of tuning.

At 60 or so miles, it became nearly undriveable, five more minutes, and I would have towed it.
