Pelican Parts - Inflation higher in CA?
Guys,
What gives? I was just out in your parts catalog and noticed a Throttle Switch is now over $120.00 - tell me this is a typo. I also noticed the CHT sensor is over $30.00. Last I recall - I paid approx $26.00 for my last TPS (less than a year ago), and only $13.00 for the 012 CHT sensor. I may have bought these at BAP Imports, but GEEEZZZZZ - why the huge price difference? Or is Bosch in CA differrent than Bosch in AZ? Not ranting - I'm just confused!

Not sure what the deal is. I haven't shopped for parts here in about 6 months.
My guess... Pelican has gotten big, overhead has increased (remember the post about Wayne's new showroom?), more employees, advertising, etc. We're all hooked and automatically come here, and many people don't comparison shop any longer. The guys on the 911 board have started several threads similar to this.

Wholesale cost on a throttle switch has been around $80 for at least the last nine months. I'm not sure what the price was before that, but I've seen some pretty hefty increases on similar 'low demand' items.
You might want to try a search on Pelican's Drivewerks site. Looks like it's around $100 there. |

The Euro is Strong against the Dollar and so prices will reflect that also we did our first pricing update in about 15 months. Some prices went up others went down. Jackpads are now $ 11.75 they were $15.95. The "new shrowroom" is that we had to Change the door to meet fire Code and we Couldnt have people coming thru while we were have it fixed.

TPS's have been expensive for a long time. Prices on the CHT's vary, I've gotten them for as cheap as $13 recently (partsbin.com), but they're likely going up in price.
It's only going up from here. I would strongly recommend to anyone who wants to keep their stock FI to buy a reserve of parts very soon. My $400 MPS I bought last year looks like a bargain today. |

Often the big change in price is due to accumulated increases in cost from the wholesaler. After 'cheap' stock is sold off, it gets replaced at greater expense. It may take years, and if that's the case the increase can be quite substantial.

Right-o. For those of you who don't follow it, the Euro has increased 25% against the dollar from about 8 months ago. So, yes, the costs of these parts will be going up, hopefully not the full 25%, but they will be going up. It's beyond my control, and it will be reflected against all my competitors as well.
Believe me, I am not arbitrarily raising prices. In fact, our recent price adjustment brought many prices down from inaccurate levels. We now work to a consistent margin that will be constantly updated by electronic cost data from our suppliers. In the future, you will see the prices fluctuate quite a bit more as the computer adjusts things up or down based upon the data provided from our suppliers. Parts on the DriveWerks are supplied and drop-shipped from another supplier. As a result, the prices may be different due to the different distribution and delivery channel. I hope this explains it slightly... -Wayne
