Bad MPS diaphram? in effect, running injectors at full throttle.

-- Manifold Pressure sensor. you check it by pulling a vacuum on it. simple test would be to disconnect the hose at the air distributor and suck on it. If it's leaking any air past it's bad, and will send a signal to the brain box that means full load/throttle.

it's mounted passenger side on the body, below and behind the battery. It's about the size of your fist, and has a plug with 4 wires going in, and the hose to the airbox.

It's not uncommon for them to go bad after so many years.
