Are Optima Batterys really worth the extra money?

Okay, which is the Optima battery that fits directly (no mods) in a teener? Can someone provide a link to it on the Optima site?

I use a Champion XLT (Exide Select Orbital; same-same) that I purchased at Sam's Club for less than the Optima (same sealed design), and it drops right in.

You have to shim the 914's mounting clamp slightly due to its smaller dimensions, but that's minor. Definately cranks hard, and you'll LOVE the no-spills piece-of-mind.

In Steve's pic, referring to the rusted through area in the section parallel to the ground, just behind the firewall: Can a patch be welded to that area, or would this repair much more involved requiring a lot more cutting and replacement?

The rust is so bad in the car that I jacked it up on the jack point today and it just crumbled. Steve

Nope ... the rain tray is on the engine lid and doesn't extend that far towards the battery.

I like that the battery has built-in handles, which makes yanking it out painless.

I'm on my 2nd Optima.
I put it in the trunk in a marine type battery box....no lid, tho.
What can possibly go wrong?

When I put in my new shinny motor I made a bad wire splice....the d- alternator wire. Worked OK for a couple weeks, then seperated....which allows 17.5 volts to the battery. Lemme tell ya, it's possible to boil over an Optima....it's got green stuff in it. Came up, hit the trunk lid and went all over hell & gone. Thank God it ended up in the trunk and not all over the shinny bits.

They replaced it no questions asked.
