Sway bar question
Hi,
I bought a stock sway bar. Now the arms easily slides on and off of the torsion bar. What holds them on when they are installed in the car? Also will the Weltmeister U-tab kit work with the stock sway bar? And how well does the stock sway bar work? Thanks, Chris. |
Get a bolt and a nut to go through it and tighten it up. They wont come off. As for the U tab, you could make your own. They came on the early cars and the S optioned cars. The Weltmiester fit would work also.

I don't suppose you bought it on Ebay, did you?

If you tighten the clamp bolts all the way and they still are loose, your arms are worn out and wont work unless you have them welded, re-machined, or replaced. I would not try to weld then to the torsion bar.

I don't have a stock type bar so I may not visualize this correctly, but, if the clamping bolt no longer tightens the arm to the bar couldn't you shim the arm-to-bar suface? This would then spread the split or clamping end of the arm and allow the clamping bolt to bite. Just an idea.

Yes, I bought it on ebay. I looked at the picture of " how to install a sway bar" and see that I am missing the bolts and the plates that clamp the arms to the bar. Hmmmm.
